Poor baby.
Jul. 3rd, 2009 05:26 pmAt some point, I'm gonna stop spamming you with posts about hamsterbabies. Once they are all gone, probably, but at some point. ;)
So, one of the little black ones has hurt his eye. Possibly ran against something, had someone kick him in it, collided with a piece of straw, something.
I just went to the vet with him, to get him checked out, and she told me there isn't much to be done. I'll treat the eye with some homeopathic liquid, and if it doesn't get infected, it can stay like that, otherwise, it'll probably have to come out.
She also told me that even if he is a little disabled like that, I should still be able to find someone to take him, hamsterlovers won't care and all that.
But, you see, I had to fill out a sheet about me and my pet, going in. And I had to give a name, and just leaving that blank sounded way too mean. So now, the little guy is called Punk(*). And you know how it is, once you've named them...
I really shouldn't keep one of the babies. I could possibly make room for one, but two is twice the work that one is, and will be that much more complicated once I move - which will very likely be during the next year, so while both of them are in all probability still alive.
Meep! What to do, what to do...
Also, a black one - Edmund - has left me today. That's how I noticed Gerard's eye in the first place, because I couldn't really send of a 'damaged' hamster. He got to
blady just fine, she tells me. One down, four five to go.
The third black one possibly needs a little longer with his mum, he's at least a centimetre smaller than the others, and they are only around 5cm, altogether. Why must you be so difficult, kiddos?
Still no clue as to sexes, btw. I tried comparing distances between 'holes', as the internet suggested, but I don't think that all except one of them are boys. Also, the vet tells me that even she couldn't tell yet, so yeah, no idea.
(*) He was calles Gerard first, but Nicole did convince me that that's too much Fangirl even for me, and also, Punk and Emo go way better together. *g*
