Meme and more hamsters.

A meme about reading, seen at
stellamira's.
01. Do you snack while you read? If so, favorite reading snack?
not usually, no. I even tend to forget I have coffe or tea or something around, and it gets cold.
02. Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in books horrify you?
really depends. In stuff I read for uni or to get to know a fandom's canon (better) [e.g. Potter, or a few Pierce books], I might write in the margins or dog-ear pages that seem important. I usually only do this with paperbacks. exception is, again, Potter, where my copy of DH has, for example 'OMG MOLLY! YAY!!!' and many other scribbles all over it...
03. How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears? Laying the book flat open?
again, depends. paperbacks get dog-ears, hardcovers get random scaps of paper that are usually not 'real' bookmarks.
04. Fiction, Non-fiction, or both?
Fiction. Non-fiction usually only for uni. Though I have a half-read copy of 'Notes from a small island' lying around. Are travel books non-fiction?
05. Hard copy or audiobooks?
Hard copy, usually. Again, there are exceptions. Tintenblut and Tintentod by Funke I only listened to, and I have heard Terrier more often than I have read it. Love audiobooks and audio plays for long carrides and to go to sleep...
06. Are you a person who tends to read to the end of chapters, or are you able to put a book down at any point?
I always try for chapter ends, and then I have to read on, and so I usually stop at a random point, because the chapter end thing just keeps me reading and reading...
07. If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop to look it up right away? Write it down to look it up later? Just try to infer what it means from the rest of the sentence, and keep going?
Can't remember when I last looked up a word when reading - even in English. I don't think I looked anything up when I first read Watership Down at age 12 or something, and haven't really started to, afterwards.
08. What are you currently reading?
Bandombigbang, mostly. I keep buying books, but got out of the habit of actually reading them, so my pile of 'unread books' is ever-growing...
Should be reading Shakespeare's 'King Lear'.
Same for Bond's 'Lear'. Haven't even bought that, yet...
Stuff that's lying around, half-read (usually because I skip to something else...):
Bryson's 'Notes from a Small Island'
Fforde's 'First among Sequels'
Huxley's 'Brave New World'
Colfer's 'Artemis Fowl and the Time Paradox'
Gibson&Sterling's 'The Difference Engine'
Cohn&Levithan's 'Nick&Norah's Infinite Playlist'
09. What is the last book you bought?
Vanderbeke's 'Sweet Sixteen', on monday. Already read it, too. Whoo!
10. Are you the type of person that only reads one book at a time or can read more than one at a time?
Erm. I think the list above answers this one.
11. Do you like re-reading books?
Some. I love re-reading Tamora Pierce's stuff. But most often when I try to re-read something I loved at some point, it falls flat on the second try, so usually I don't even try any more, and just enjoy the memory.
And to round out the post of randomness, have some more hamsterbabies. They've grown so much!
Also, they'll be five weeks tomorrow, which means I should send them off this weekend, and take everyone who's left to the pet shop by next thursday at the latest.
Whoever wants one of the hamsters, now you've gotta tell me!
Right now, there's two black-and-whites and two black ones left. [one black one goes to blady, one black-and-white one to lir's sister and her bf.]
It's more likely to get mitfahrzentrale/-gelegenheit people who go to your city on the weekend, so this weekend really would be good, but I can accomodate them for another week, if that's better for you.
The pictures were taken over the course of a week or so, but the last ones are from yesterday, so they should give a good impression as to size and whatnot.
Still can't tell their sexes, unfortunately. Better pick gender-neutral names? *g*
