Poor baby.

At some point, I'm gonna stop spamming you with posts about hamsterbabies. Once they are all gone, probably, but at some point. ;)

So, one of the little black ones has hurt his eye. Possibly ran against something, had someone kick him in it, collided with a piece of straw, something.
I just went to the vet with him, to get him checked out, and she told me there isn't much to be done. I'll treat the eye with some homeopathic liquid, and if it doesn't get infected, it can stay like that, otherwise, it'll probably have to come out.

She also told me that even if he is a little disabled like that, I should still be able to find someone to take him, hamsterlovers won't care and all that.

But, you see, I had to fill out a sheet about me and my pet, going in. And I had to give a name, and just leaving that blank sounded way too mean. So now, the little guy is called Punk(*). And you know how it is, once you've named them...

I really shouldn't keep one of the babies. I could possibly make room for one, but two is twice the work that one is, and will be that much more complicated once I move - which will very likely be during the next year, so while both of them are in all probability still alive.

Meep! What to do, what to do...

Also, a black one - Edmund - has left me today. That's how I noticed Gerard's eye in the first place, because I couldn't really send of a 'damaged' hamster. He got to [personal profile] blady just fine, she tells me. One down, four five to go.

The third black one possibly needs a little longer with his mum, he's at least a centimetre smaller than the others, and they are only around 5cm, altogether. Why must you be so difficult, kiddos?

Still no clue as to sexes, btw. I tried comparing distances between 'holes', as the internet suggested, but I don't think that all except one of them are boys. Also, the vet tells me that even she couldn't tell yet, so yeah, no idea.

(*) He was calles Gerard first, but Nicole did convince me that that's too much Fangirl even for me, and also, Punk and Emo go way better together. *g*

hiii, my mum hasn't decided yet, sorry :( maybe we could hold out for the wee one who's staying with their mother a bit longer? and I'm a bit concerned about transporting a hamster in a car in this weather...doesn't it get too hot? How did you handle it for Edmund? (*g*)

You could totally get the little one. He's black, if that's important. Though I've called pet-shops and right now no one needs any, so... the are staying for a bit, I guess. would your mum prefer black, or blackandwhite, if she wanted one?

About the car, I made sure they had air conditioning, put him in the ... fußraum, with a white dishtowel around him against the sun and maybe wind, and gave him a grape to nibble on. for longer trips, I'd see about maybe tapung one of the very small water bottles to the inside. lets hope it gets a bit cooler, again. and sure, it isn't perfect in the car, but as long as they don't have to travel in the boot, it should be okay, i guess.

awww maaaan... ;_; ... my mum is very sorry, but she decided that she can't really care for a hamster right now, so I'll have to rescind my offer ):
if I only had space for a cage I'd take one myself, but as it is ... >_>; (I could only place on in my room, but from experience I know that this doesn't work -- hamster are too loud. And there isn't any other space in our shared flat.)

sorry for your time!

aw, mist. :(

My little one arrived here just fine, so that rather short trip seemed okay. And if he has enough water, he will be just fine.

Pictures are about to come. And the name Edmund comes from this Edmund here.
So I think it would have been okay to call him Gerard because the name I gave my little one (which is kinda his petname already) is also very much fangirl.

I already called my PC Bob (after Bob Bryar, yes), so, enough Fangirl for now, maybe.
Punk is decidedly more gender-neutral, anyway. (And I will find something that I can call Gerard at some point. *g* Not that many people would know that it is a 'fannish' name in the first place. *g*)

See, I'm not all that into Narnia, so I didn't remember that Princeling. Just one of my english lectors' brother, one Edmund Lowman, who's a bit of an ass and (was) in a band that once opened for Fall Out Boy.

My Emo's pet name is, currently, 'Mum'. Once the babies are gone, that will hopefully get better... *g* and 'Kleiner/Kleine' are all of them, anyway. ;)

Hm, yeah my PC and Laptop too have fangirl names... Ah, well that's what I am a fangirl so that's that.
And you're right, if you hadn't made that small annotation I wouldn't have guessed it was a fannish name, but after that I even figured out from whom the Gerard might come from :D

Haha, Mum. I guess it will get better once the babies are gone. And th good thing about hamsters is that they won't get too big so Edmund can always be little one :D
