So. It took me two days to read that book, and... wow.

This is most likely not considered a good review, as i a) don't want to spoil too much, and b) don't have the time to write a full-fledged review. anyway...

I was in love with those kids allready, but tris, briar, daja, and sandry as adults... I'm in love with the way Tamora develops them, lets them get better, without making it unbelievable.

let's see...

the series started out with the four 'circle of magic books', in wich the kids were 11, and just had found out they had magic. They struggled to get it under control, to get to know each other and get to know themselves.
afterwarts, there was the 'the circle opens'-quartet, which was good as well. they were 14, and living their separate lives, traveling the world. they had learned to control their magic, had gotten their mage-medallions and had to act as adults without really being grown-up. sometimes they seemes a little to old to be fourteen in those books, but for the most part, they were really good.

now they are 18, and they are reunited, but that's not as easy as it sounds, what with everything they experienced during their travels. They draw back, and opening up again is a slow, painfull process.
they seem so real, brair with his flirtations, but still a street-rat at heart, tris with her oddities, daja with... no, i won't tell, don't wanna spoil. [I squeed a lot about her, at least. :) so ... wow. :)]

hmmm... we have rosethorn/lark in black and white in the books now. and I SO want to fanfic those two. I also want to fanfic briar/tris... it is a little like incest, sure, but... i think it would be so cute. moreover, the two of them are my favorites of the four. [daja being third and sandry still being fourth. she's such a... girl sometimes. far less sueish than i thought before, but still...] and I want to fic daja as well, come to think of it. hm. new fando'm I'd say. not entirely new, but I wasn't thinking that much about them two days ago... [and 2 fics don't count as 'fandom'.]

hm. I don't think anyone on my FL was really interested in all this stuff - exept maybe for [livejournal.com profile] schattenstern - but i just wanted to say what a great book it was. you should all go and read all of tammys books! [9 in the circle-series so far, 14 in the tortall-universe, and more to come] they may be considered children's books, but they are so very amazing... [btw, 'bastei lübbe' has printed a new version of the german first and second alanna-book as 'ankunft in der schwarzen stadt', with no hint for chindrens/teens-book to be found. and with a white-haired alanna. hm.]

so. just spreading the joy... in the next day's i'll probably read the english versions of the 'immortals'-series, as i have only read tem in german and finally got a the translations. still waiting for realms of the gods and my alanna-quartet-box-set, but they'll get here, I'm sure...
