okay, so i'll be gone for a little over a week in about an hour.
a week of skiing in austria (in ramsau am dachstein, in der steiermark).

i haven't been skiing for about two years, so i'm really looking forward to it.
and it sounds as if there's enough snow and everything.
yay, fun! :D

have a great time, you guys, see you in a week.

inception

khana: (Comics - Billy and Teddy)
so, months after everyone else ever, i finally watched inception last night.
and i don't get it.
i mean, i get the plot, and the ending, and how it's probably all some kind of dream and how there are dozes of different interpretations.
i just don't get the big fandom thing.
just from the three or four lines of banter between arthur and eames and their otherwise pretty much nonexistent characterization (noone but coob was really characterized, for that matter), fandom got to a place where there's pretty much only that ship?
I'm confused.
does anyone have a rec or two to convince me otherwise?

had a little too much rice and fish yesterday. Still tastes good today, though, and will make one amazing lunch-/supperbox later today.

yum! :)

I don't think I mentioned yet that I started reading Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga, did I?
I've read over half of it now, and am still loving it to bits. Definitely recommended.

gerard "fucking hates new metal"
the new album is going to be so much fun
sadly, frank hid behind a stone post most of the time (from where i was standing, anyway)

now more hamburg with [livejournal.com profile] peaches and [livejournal.com profile] metalnurse, and then home on sunday.

I'm always slightly weirded out by German settings in English language series.

Undercovers (pretty cool new spy-series thing) just had an episode set in Germany. And I can't decide if it was good or bad.

To start with, they couldn't convince me of the setting, even though it didn't look too bad, because they had the wrong licence plates - and kept showing them!
A few of the "German" characters' accents were really bad, but then again, the main bad guy and his right hand man were really good. Okay, the right hand man was really good, and the other one faked pretty well, but his language was rather stilted.
And then the male main character started talking and I went "wait, what?" Turns out he's actually born Austrian and grew up in Germany, so it's no surprise that he knows German, but really, I was pretty stunned. When he came out with the first sentence, asking "Magste die Musik?", I had to listen to it twice to make sure I hadn't misheard.
It's just that he (and the two other ones) were so good, it made the accented/learned-by-heart lines stand out all the more. And I don't mind if the american character has an accent, really, it's natural, it makes sense. But when the ones that actually play Germans sound so off, it just throws me.

What do you guys think?
Is anyone even watching this?
